SAFEGUARDING
German Swiss International School (GSIS) is committed to safeguarding the welfare of all students and staff. The Board of Governors and School Leadership Team recognise their moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of students throughout their enrolment at school.
Safeguarding is an umbrella term that incorporates Child Protection. Child Protection is the process and activities undertaken to fulfil statutory obligations to protect specific children who have been identified as suffering, or at risk of significant harm. All agencies and individuals should proactively safeguard and promote the welfare of children so that the need for action to protect children from harm is reduced.
GSIS seeks to promote a positive, supportive, and secure environment, that aims to provide students with a sense of being valued, respected, and heard without fear of ridicule or harm.
GSIS follows Hong Kong legislation and is guided by German legislation, which highlights the responsibility of all adults to uphold the rights of children and to work together to promote welfare and protection as a fundamental principle. Hong Kong and Germany are bound by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
