EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (ECAS)
We provide our students with a diverse range of clubs and activities to enable them to acquire new skills, delve into unexplored areas of interest, and develop their talents. These offerings span across different fields, including art, drama, music, sports, STEM, coding, and debate. Aside from these, students in Secondary can participate in the Model United Nations to learn about how the UN operates, or partake in the Hong Kong Award for Young People, an award scheme designed to motivate a spirit of challenge and perseverance through outdoor activities. Our students also have the freedom to spearhead and orchestrate their own contributions. By taking the initiative in student-led activities, they can share their skills to peers and gain valuable experience in leadership and organisation. We believe this enhances the breadth of our school's offerings but also instils a sense of responsibility and community within our students. Through this approach, we aim to provide a well-rounded education that equips them with the skills and resilience to succeed in all aspects of life. Our after-school programmes encompass both chargeable afternoon activities (AAs) and non-chargeable extra-curricular activities (ECAs) that are led by a combination of external service providers and GSIS staff members. They vary depending on the respective year groups and timetables of Kindergarten, Primary, and Secondary students.

Discovery Week
A core value at GSIS is to provide our Secondary students with opportunities that challenge and inspire them. During one week in the Autumn term, students embark in a specially designed programme of activities aimed at pushing their boundaries. For our junior students, this entails residential camps located in Hong Kong, China, and Germany, as well as the chance to explore new sports and skills that may not be part of the regular curriculum. Senior students, have the option of serving as camp leaders for juniors or participating in a range of overseas trips. These trips expose them to diverse environments and cultures, allowing them to engage in service activities like house building in Cambodia, coral conservation in the Philippines, and adventure treks in Nepal. The Discovery Week Programme develops life skills such as teamwork, organisation, and independence. It is also rewarding for students to socialise amongst their peers and help each other rise to new challenges together.
Arts
The arts play a significant role in a child's education where our creative outlets, which include art, drama, and music, provide an opportunity for students to express themselves in unique and powerful ways. Our arts programmes are designed to foster creativity and encourage exploration, whether it's through painting, drawing, sculpting, acting, or playing an instrument. We are proud to offer a variety of opportunities for our students to be creative and discover their passions in order to develop a deeper appreciation for the arts and gain a greater understanding of their cultural significance.

Sports
We believe that sports is essential in a student's physical and mental well-being. Our diverse sports programme offers a variety of physical activities, from traditional sports such as football, tennis, cricket, hockey, and netball to specialised activities like gymnastics, fencing, touch rugby, and more. Team sports help to build confidence, encourage team spirit, and develop leadership skills, while individual pursuits focus on concentration, discipline, and perseverance. We also recognise the importance of non-competitive activities, which promotes physical fitness and stress relief. Catering to students of all interests and skill levels, we encourage every student to participate and discover the benefits of an active lifestyle.
Leadership and Service
GSIS offers a diverse range of leadership opportunities for students across all levels. From class responsibilities in Kindergarten to House Leaders in Primary and School Council in Secondary, we provide numerous platforms for students to grow and develop their leadership skills. Students can become Head Students, Deputy Student Heads, Prefects, Class Representatives, House Captains, or participate in the student-run Academic Societies and the Global Initiatives Group. We believe that every student has the potential to be a leader and we provide them with the necessary support and resources to showcase their qualities. We aim to instil a sense of responsibility and confidence where their dedication to leadership and service sets them on a path towards lifelong success and fulfilment.
