Jelmar de Jong
Mr. de Jong is a part-time private investor and stay-at-home dad. Until 2015, Mr. de Jong was a Managing Director in Oaktree Capital Management’s Global Principal Opportunities and Asia Principal Opportunities teams in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Oaktree in 2008, Mr. de Jong spent 10 years at Morgan Stanley Asia’s Mergers and Acquisitions department, also in Hong Kong. Prior to that, Mr. de Jong held positions at CS First Boston and Smith Barney Asia in Hong Kong and Morgan Stanley International in London. Mr. de Jong received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a Masters degree in Civil Law from the University of Leiden in the Netherlands. He is a native Dutch speaker.
Mr. de Jong has served on the GSIS Association Board since August 2017 and on the Foundation Board since March 2019. He has been the First Deputy Chairperson of both boards since March 2019 and is currently chairperson of the Articles Committee and a deputy chairperson of the Legal Committee. Mr. de Jong has also been the director involved in safeguarding issues for the school.
