Ms. Alexandra Freigang-Krause Appointed School Principal

German Swiss International School (GSIS) is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Alexandra Freigang-Krause as school principal, effective from February 2024. With a wealth of experience in education, Freigang-Krause will oversee the overall operations of the school and provide strategic direction, with a focus on growing the German International Stream (GIS) as well as strengthening the English International Stream (EIS).

Originally from Germany,  Freigang-Krause has amassed nearly 30 years of experience in the field of education. She embarked on her career at the Emil-von-Behring Gymnasium in Spardorf, Germany, where she taught English and French. Over the years, her dedication and commitment led her to gain additional accreditation and take on roles with increasing levels of responsibility. Since 2019, she has served as the Head of Professional Development in Social Studies, Languages and Arts as part of the Management Team at Bavaria's central institution of teacher training.

Throughout her tenure in the United States, France, and her current role, Freigang-Krause has cultivated a deep interest in interculturality and bilingualism. Her passion and expertise in these areas will further strengthen GSIS’ commitment to fostering a culturally diverse and inclusive environment. She is devoted to equipping GSIS students with the necessary skills to excel in an interconnected world where an appreciation for different cultures Is vital.

Her goal is to align her new responsibilities and perspectives with GSIS’ core values and strategic objectives. She will focus on assessing and developing teachers across all grade levels and subjects, including Chinese. Freigang-Krause believes in fostering an environment that encourages open dialogue and collaboration, ensuring that parents, students, and staff feel valued and respected as we strive for excellence.

“It is essential for me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the entire school, from Kindergarten to Secondary, and to identify areas of strength as well as opportunities for improvement and exploration. Furthermore, I aim to delve deeper into my field of work and make a concerted effort to build meaningful connections with as many individuals as possible. It is an ambitious goal, but one that aligns with our pursuit of excellence,” said Freigang-Krause.
