Students will learn to write, publish, and perform their own original poetry in this ECA! This ECA combines literature with digital publishing. Students will be introduced to poetry through games, humour, poetry books and online poetry activities for children.
Each week, we will explore a poem from a children's author. Authors include, but are not limited to: Shel Silverstein, Ken Nesbitt, Michael Rosen, Dr Seuss, A. A. Milne and Jackie Kay.
Inspired by the weekly poet, students will then create their own original poetry. Students' original work will be published digitally in a variety of ways using Google tools.

Students must play an orchestral instrument (no guitars, drums, pianos, recorders) and they must have been learning for a minimum of 18 months. There is not an audition but all new members will join for a trial period after which the students, parents and teacher will decide if they are to continue. This ECA is a fun and enjoyable introduction to drama. Students will be guided through activities which encourage them to be creative, take on different roles and perspectives, and improve their confidence in front of their peers.

- Warm up games using music, sound effects and movement.
- Improvisation activities where students will creatively respond to different situations.
- Short skits written and performed by groups of students.
- Activities that encourage non-verbal communication, such as ‘Charades’ and similar games.
