A World-Class Partnership: GSIS and BVB Evonik Football Academy

We are proud to announce our exclusive partnership with Borussia Dortmund (BVB) Evonik Football Academy, the esteemed international youth development division of one of Europe’s most successful football clubs. This exciting collaboration will introduce an elite youth football academy at GSIS, further enhancing the school’s reputation as a leading international institution in Hong Kong. The academy will be led by a UEFA A-License coach, Mr Kai Brock, with extensive experience in youth academies of the German Bundesliga, having coached multiple international players who successfully transitioned to the elite level.

The official launch event was held at our Peak campus on Friday 14 March. The occasion was attended by esteemed guests, including Mr Stefan Bredohl, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany and Ms Stefanie Seedig, Deputy Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, along with the GSIS community. The event opened with remarks from our Principal, Ms Alexandra Freigang-Krause and Mr Benjamin Wahl, Managing Director of BVB East Asia, who, together with our Chairman of the Boards, Mr Jonathan Shun Wah, heralded the beginning of this transformative partnership. To celebrate this partnership, BVB Football Legend and World Cup winner, Mr Karl-Heinz Riedle, graced the event, sharing invaluable experiences from his illustrious career and engaging with parents and students.

"We are thrilled to collaborate with one of Germany's most iconic football clubs, renowned for its outstanding youth development programmes. Even more importantly, this venture will bring another vibrant aspect of German culture to life at GSIS," said Ms Alexandra Freigang-Krause, School Principal of GSIS.

As the official Youth Development partner of the BVB Evonik Football Academy, we will launch the academy with an exclusive football camp during the Easter break for GSIS students. The academy will also welcome aspiring youth football players across Hong Kong later in the summer. This initiative promises to enrich the football landscape in Hong Kong.
