'Under the sea' is a stop motion film made during ECA Art, a weekly 2-hour course attended by students from Classes 5 and 6.
The topic of this ECA was the underwater world. The students used paper to create their own magical underwater world with a hidden treasure, a world for their protagonists to dip into. They invented their own underwater animals for this and set them in motion using cut out animation.
One main focus was the scenic design of the underwater world with imaginative animal forms; a second focus was the use of the stop motion technique, enabling the figures to make different movements, e.g. a figure swimming or jumping into the water. The students designed templates with movable arms and legs to replicate the movement of the whole body.
