We are excited that Ms Brigitte Zypries, Parliamentary State Secretary, Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy, will visit GSIS on Monday, 10 November.
After the welcome and a meeting with the school management and a school tour, students will have the opportunity to share their personal views on the democracy movement in Hong Kong with Ms Zypries. This year's 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and its relevance in today's world will also be a part of the dialogue between our students and the established politician.
As a dedicated hostess of the GSIS school trip to Berlin Ms Zypries has been involved for many years in the active political education and development of our students.
From 2002-2009 Ms. Zypries was the Federal Minister of Justice in the Cabinets Schröder II and Merkel I.
At the end of 2007, Ms Zypries submitted the legislative proposal to amend the law of alimony and child support, which entered into force on 1 January 2008, regulating the primacy of the child's welfare and post-marital responsibility.
In 2008, Ms Zypries enforced a statutory limitation of attorneys' fees for minor copyright infringements on the Internet. Previously, cases made the headlines in which teenagers who had copyrighted photos placed on their personal websites, had received warnings and four figure lawyer bills.
Ms Zypries is also an advocate for legal equality of same-sex partnerships and marriages.
Since 17 December 2013, Ms Zypries acts as Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Economy and Energy (BMWi). Within this scope she is responsible for IT and Aerospace.
Ms Zypries is accompanied by Mrs Gerlint Heckmann, Head of East Asia in the BMWi and Mrs Birgit Ogami, assistant in the Office of East Asia.
